Best Practices in Negotiating Settlements Workshop

Sheldon J. Stark is a distinguished mediator, arbitrator, and legal educator with over five decades of experience in dispute resolution, including extensive work as a neutral practitioner in the USA. A Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators and the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, Stark has delivered ICLE’s 40-hour hands-on mediation training continuously since 2001, with the course reflecting his commitment to structured, practical instruction, and taught at Harvard Law School for over two decades. He served as Chair of the State Bar of Michigan’s ADR Section and has been named a top ADR lawyer by dBusiness Magazine on multiple occasions. His published works specifically address negotiation strategy and mediation technique, making him an authoritative and compelling trainer for participants the course is designed to serve.

Earlene Baggett-Hayes is an attorney, mediator, and factfinder with over 25 years of ADR experience. As principal of The Law and Mediation Center, PLLC, in Pontiac, MI,USA,  she specializes in employment, labor, business, and domestic relations disputes. Earlene is a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators, a member of the National Association of Distinguished Neutrals, and serves on the National Bar Association ADR Council board of directors. She received the State Bar of Michigan's Distinguished Service in ADR Award, serves on national mediation and arbitration panels, and has conducted extensive mediation training programs nationwide.

Doris Goodenough is an experienced Johannesburg advocate and accredited mediator whose career spans more than three decades of civil litigation and dispute resolution practice. She has presided several times as an Acting Judge, and has mediated commercial, family law, RAF, and personal injury disputes. She has sat on both sides of the mediation table — as a mediator and as legal representative, with extensive practical experience in mediation. Her July 2025 workshop prepared plaintiffs’ representatives  to prepare for their RAF mediations and was well received by legal practitioners.
