Adv Mankakane Violet Magagane

Advocate Mankakane Violet Magagane is a seasoned legal professional, registered with the Legal Practice Council and admitted to practice as such in the High Court of South Africa and a mediator specialising in Legal Mediation.

She holds a B Proc from the University of the North, LLB from University of South Africa, Master of Laws- specialisation in Law of Contracts obtained from the University of Pretoria and Masters’ Degree in Management (Information and Communication Technologies, Policy and Regulations) obtained from the University of the Witwatersrand. In 2020, she completed the UCT/MiM Advocates, Attorneys and Other Legal Practitioner Mediation Training programme. She is currently registered as a mediator with MiMM, ADR TG, SAMLA and Mediation Pan Africa.

Adv MV Magagane has over 26 years as a legal practitioner, having been admitted as attorney in 1999. For 6 years as an attorney, she focused on commercial litigation, personal injury claims and medical negligence claims. She also spent 9 years as an inhouse legal counsel where she specialised mainly in Commercial Law, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as well as Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC). In 2016, she was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa. She has extensive legal experience in Commercial Litigation, Labour Law and Civil Litigation with specialisation mainly in personal injury and medical negligence claims.

Adv Magagane has also served as the Chairperson of the Department of Health Nursing Tribunal and presided over various medical negligence claims against members of the health sector. As an Advocate, she represents claimants in personal injury claims against the Road Accident Fund and medical negligence claims against the Health Department.
She focuses her mediation mainly in commercial, medical negligence and personal injury claims. She is passionate about legal mediation and believes that mediation is an effective cost- effective dispute resolution process. She believes mediation creates lasting resolution while supporting mutual respect, confidentiality and gives parties’ the ability to make their own choices freely throughout the mediation process.
