Elizabeth Kriegler

Liz is a South African attorney and qualified conveyancer with a background in commercial litigation. Before her admission as an attorney in 1993, she worked as a litigation paralegal in London. She is currently a registered non-practising attorney.

After leaving practice in the late 1990s, Liz lectured part-time in delict and negotiable instruments. More recently, she spent four years lecturing in property law and the law of succession, strengthening her depth of knowledge in disputes involving estates, property, and related family dynamics.

Liz has been accredited by the South African Association of Mediators (SAAM) since 2006. Her primary mediation experience is in divorce and family disputes, and she is actively expanding her practice into additional areas. In 2023, she was also accredited by Conflict Dynamics and has since mediated a range of matters, including RAF mediations, divorce mediations, and commercial disputes.

Her professional development includes participation in the Conflict Dynamics RAF mediation workshop (2025) and the Mediation Pan African workshop on divorce maintenance (2026). Liz is a member of SAMLA and prefers a facilitative mediation style, focused on helping parties reach practical, durable agreements.

Beyond legal practice and mediation, Liz has served on several non-law-related committees over the past decade. This includes Guild Cottage, which is South Africa’s only specialised residential treatment centre for survivors of sexual assault, where she acted as the legal officer. She is currently the secretary of the Gauteng Transplant Sports Association.
