Adv Doris Goodenough

Adv Doris Goodenough is an experienced advocate and accredited mediator, certified by  both DiSAC and NABFAM as being competent to mediate across all categories  of disputes under the Gauteng Mediation Protocol.

Based in Johannesburg, she brings over 30 years’ experience in civil litigation, including   commercial, divorce/ family law, delict, contract, evictions, insolvency, personal injury in general (including RAF) and medical negligence litigation.

Adv Goodenough has served several times as an Acting Judge, including in RAF matters and in the Family Court of the South Gauteng High Court.

Her mediation background includes eviction, divorce/family law, commercial and  personal injury disputes, including participation in the 2021/2022 SAMLA RAF Mediation Pilot Project (observer, then co-mediator, and then lead mediator), having previously written the initial draft of the SAMLA Mediation Protocol for RAF mediations.

Over the past 30 years, Adv Goodenough has undergone training in mediation  and other alternative dispute resolution by AFSA, LEAD/LSSA, SAAM, the Association of Arbitrators, the Family Life Centre,  Conflict Dynamics and Mediation in Motion

During 2025,  Adv Goodenough presented her own training workshop titled: "Plaintiff's Legal Representatives: Prepare yourself and your Client for your RAF Mediation", which was well received. She was also a co-presenter in two mediation roleplay training programmes, first for ADR Network and thereafter for Mediation Pan African.

Also during 2025, she submitted a proposal to the Gauteng Judge President in support of   mandatory mediation for non-urgent PIE applications and has also been a speaker on this subject.
