Personal Statement

I am a seasoned admitted attorney and have been in good standing with the Legal Practice Council for the past 36 years. I am an experienced litigator with extensive involvement and experience in personal injury and insurance law. I have also been a mediator for the last 13 years and am accredited in terms of the Mediation Protocol for High Court Mediations. I have a passion for training and mentoring legal and medico-legal professionals.

Relevant Skills and Expertise

• Top 3 in attorney admission exams ( 1988/89) in the then Transvaal Province.
• Attorney of record in 22 reported cases which had changed – or affected insurance and – personal injury law. List of reported decisions available on request.
• I was called to the Bench as Acting Judge for the first time in 2023 for a period of three weeks. I returned to the Bench for the whole of the First Term of 2024 and thereafter I was recalled for an extended period including the Fourth Term 2024, the First Term 2025 and a further six weeks of the Second Term 2025. Due to my specialist knowledge and experience, I was tasked during the aforesaid tenures to preside over the RAF Default Judgment Court for a period of 24 weeks, requiring me to read, prepare and pronounce on 1234 default judgment applications. Thereafter I was again appointed to the Bench for a further six weeks which ended 29 August 2025, a total tenure of 40 weeks. I shall return during March 2026 for a further period of 4 weeks.
• 72 judgments which I have handed down are recorded and available at Southern African Legal Information Institute (SAFLII).
• I have lectured and presented courses to the Road Accident Fund, various insurance companies, SAMLA, the Pan African Bar Association of South Africa (PABASA), Conflict Dynamics, FUNDA Academy, Mediation in Motion Mediators (MiMM), and medical service providers.
• I am a qualified mediator, accredited by Conflict Dynamics and registered in accordance with the Mediation Protocol for High Court Mediations. I am also on the mediation panels for MPA and MiMM.
